Fairycatcher tells the story of a young fairy named Gwendal who, after witnessing the brutal death of his friend, is captured by a sinister Fairycatcher. This short film is a dark fable set within a magical world and follows Gwendal’s harrowing attempt to escape, before it is too late. Fairycatcher was directed by Kealan O’Rourke and produced by Adrian Devane and Brian Willis of Igloo Films. It stars Des Braiden (Waiting for Dublin), Daire McCormack (King Arthur) and was shot by Tim Fleming on 4K RED camera. Extensive graphic work was conducted by Windmill Lane’s 3D department on this mixed media project with green screen, C.G wings and Rig removal work being undertaken by both the flame artists John Kennedy and Ian Jacobs. The final finishes were completed by Dave Hughes in Windmill’s Baselight suite which is particularly suitable to processing RED camera data.
